Launching a Project to Support an Outdoor Event

The forest trail running competition named “Laan Ultra Trail 2024“ was recently held successfully in a primeval forest area. With its rugged terrain and a scale of more than 2,000 participating athletes, the organizing committee chose the solution of renting Kenwood two-way radios from Tien Bao to ensure seamless communication and effective coordination throughout the event.

Challenges in Organizing the Event

• Complex terrain: The route ran through hills, deep streams, and dense forest areas, where mobile phone signal was unavailable and generally unstable.

• Large scale: The organizing team of over 80 people — including coordinators, rescue crews, and volunteers — needed to communicate frequently and quickly.

• Athlete safety: Emergencies such as getting lost, exhaustion, or injuries had to be handled immediately.

To overcome these challenges, using high-quality two-way radios was an indispensable solution.

Our Solution

1. Supplying modern two-way radio equipment

We provided 90 Kenwood NX-340 two-way radios, notable for:

• Long communication range: Reliable signal within a radius of up to 5 km.

• Water and dust resistant: Suitable for light rain and forest conditions.

• Clear audio: Works effectively even in noisy areas.

• Stable signal: ensuring radio coverage across every section of the route the athletes ran.

2. Repeater station installation support

• To optimize coverage, our technical team installed 3 repeater stations at strategic locations in the forest, ensuring uninterrupted signal across the entire race route.

3. Training and usage guidance

• Before event day, we set up and field-tested the two-way radio coverage to ensure good signal along all race routes. We ran a training session on two-way radio use for the entire team of coordinators and volunteers. This helped everyone get familiar with the equipment and handle real-world situations smoothly.

4. On-site support team

• Throughout the competition, our technical team remained on standby to handle any equipment-related issues that arose.
